About Me

My name is Kira Teshima. I'm a 2014 Emerging Leaders Program alum and current Associate Member of the U.S.-Japan Council. I was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, and moved to Southern California for college and law school. Since moving to Los Angeles, I have volunteered for several Japanese American community organizations closely connected to the Little Tokyo neighborhood, including JANM, LTSC, and JABA. The U.S.-Japan Council mission of bringing together leaders of the U.S. and Japan from across backgrounds, sectors, and generations to partner for a better future for the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, combines my deep love for community and my professional interests to work bilaterally between our two countries.

More Info

For the past seven decades, a strong U.S.-Japan relationship has been revered as a deeply valuable asset by both countries, no matter the state of global affairs. 2020 has brought forth new challenges - a global pandemic, economic strain, and political shifts.

The scope and pace of change like this can be overwhelming. But USJC is harnessing these forces to energize us and innovate our thinking. We are committed, now more than ever, to investing in the people who will continue to strengthen and prioritize our partnership.

The foundation of the Council was built upon personal relationships fueling transformative leadership and global advances. Whether it’s in the boardroom, over a shared meal, or on a Zoom call with attendees from across the Pacific, true innovation happens when bonds are created person-to-person, people-to-people.

Join us to help fund our new and timely campaign- #USJCPeopleToPeople

Our goal is to raise $25,000 between October 15 and December 5.

Your support will help ensure that USJC can continue to facilitate the people-to-people connections needed to advance business, politics, and community right now.
